Talk: Mystery Visual Novels: From Clueless To Creator
Kinjo Goldbar has been making mystery visual novels since 2010, starting with his Umineko fangame series When the Seacats Cry. In 2013 he released his first original visual novel Detective Butler: Maiden Voyage Murder under his company Goldbar Games. Ten years later, in 2023 he founded Mystery Gamedev, a community for fans and developers of mystery-themed video games. Members of the community worked together to create the Halloween-themed whodunnit Reaplaced for the Spooktober 2023 Game Jam, and with Kinjo as the project manager, the team won 3rd place.
Kinjo’s interests include entrepreneurship, technology, and finance. In his spare time, he enjoys watching mystery/thriller movies, listening to true crime podcasts, and reading court documents.
